9th Wiggers-Bernard Conference at LBI Trauma

Conference Participant at the Museum of Fine Arts Vienna

With support of AUVA and Lorenz-Böhler Hospital, the LBI for Experimental and Clinical Traumatology (LBI Trauma) has just hosted the 9th Wiggers-Bernard Conference entitled: “Pre-clinical Modeling in Sepsis: exchanging opinions and forming recommendations”.

Over the period of three days (May 3-5), the LBI Trauma had a privilege to host the crème de la crème of international experts (30 participants from 15 different countries) in clinical and pre-clinical sepsis. The key aim of the conference was to launch an orchestrated effort towards creating the so called “Minimum Quality Threshold in Pre-clinical Sepsis Studies” (MQTiPSS). The conference was preceded by a significant preparatory workload shared by all participants in order to maximize its outcome. The symposium has been very successful in achieving its objective; the first set of MQTiPSS recommendations has been formed. In the next steps, these recommendations will be translated into an expert-opinion publication to be disseminated in the research community. The conference was organized by Marcin Osuchowski, Heinz Redl and Bettina Standhartinger (LBI Trauma).
